May 7, 2019
Twinsburg Public Library is helping the community by connecting with County of Summit Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Board and the Summit County Community Partnership to engage patrons who come to the library about mental health and addiction. The library hands out a Crisis Text Line screen/eyeglass wipe each time reading glasses are checked out to wipe away stigma surrounding getting help with mental health. And, if you are a teen who using a computer or phone, just ask a librarian and they will hand you a wipe to keep your screen clean.
That’s not all – they help fight the opiate epidemic as well. They distribute Deterra medicine disposal pouches through a collaboration with the Summit County Community Partnership. Anyone can pick up a disposal pouch at the library’s front desk. The library also hosts a recovery group called SMART Recovery that meets monthly to empower people who want to achieve independence from addiction. Monthly meeting time and location is posted on their website.
