Harm Reduction
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) defines harm reduction as “an evidence-based approach that is critical to engaging with people who use drugs and equipping them with life-saving tools and information to create positive change in their lives and to potentially save their lives.” Harm reduction is also a key pillar in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Overdose Prevention Strategy.
The ADM Board collaborates with community partners, such as Summit County Public Health, to provide information and resources to residents who may need to use these tools to save a life.
Project Dawn
Project Deaths Avoided With Naloxone (DAWN) is a community-based drug overdose and prevention program. The ADM Board works closely with Summit County Public Health to provide the life-saving medication, Naloxone (also known as NARCAN), to the community.
