ADM Board and Summit County Public Health Officials Selected for National Training Institute

National Council for Mental Wellbeing selects ADM Board and Summit County Public Health for 2023 Behavioral Health Program

AKRON, Ohio – A national training institute has selected leaders from the County of Summit Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services (ADM) Board and Summit County Public Health for its 2023 behavioral health program.

The National Council for Mental Wellbeing selected ADM Board Executive Director Aimee Wade and Summit County Public Health Commissioner Donna Skoda to participate in the 2023 Behavioral Health Training Institute (BHTI) for Health Officials, which is organized each year in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control’s Center for State, Tribal, Local and Territorial Support. Comprised of 28 state, regional and local health officials, the BHTI provides training and technical assistance for mental health and substance use challenges.

“I am very excited for this collective learning experience,” Wade said. “This opportunity will only strengthen the coordinated efforts between the ADM Board and SCPH as we work to mitigate the impact substance use and mental health disorders have on Summit County residents through new and innovative strategies.”

Skoda and Wade will participate in the program’s monthly applied learning sessions during the first three months of 2023 before attending the two-day Behavioral Health Training Institute in Los Angeles, California, in April, followed by NatCon23—the annual National Convention of the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. Institute programming continues through July 2023.

“I look forward participating in the Behavioral Health Training Institute,” Skoda said. “It is an excellent opportunity to see new and exciting approaches for addressing mental health and substance use challenges that can be employed to improve outcomes for the residents of Summit County.”
