The ADM Board is grateful to work with community task forces and coalitions. These partnerships provide us the opportunity to work with a diverse group of individuals, including representatives from community organizations, the behavioral health system, school and education systems, government, faith leaders, and families.
Change Direction Faith Committee
In 2016, local leaders brought the Campaign to Change Direction to Summit County. After years of success as a community program, the campaign ended; however, the faith subcommittee opted to continue meeting, working across religious and spiritual groups to provide mental health support and resources to Summit County residents.
Summit County Opiate and Addiction Task Force (SCOATF)
As part of our ongoing commitment to addressing opioid addiction and substance use disorders (SUDs), the ADM Board officially informs the community that the Summit County Opiate and Addiction Task Force will be disbanding effective May 1, 2025.
We are proud of the achievements made in raising awareness and supporting prevention and recovery initiatives. While the Task Force will no longer operate in its current form, our dedication to combating addiction remains strong.
How You Can Get Involved
There are many ways to continue supporting prevention and recovery efforts in Summit County:
- Volunteer with Local Organizations: Many nonprofits and community groups are working hard to provide support for those struggling with addiction. Your time and resources can make a big difference!
- Attend Community Events: Join local forums, workshops, and educational events focused on addiction prevention and recovery. Staying informed about upcoming events through community newsletters and social media is one way to ensure that you are aware of things happening that may be of interest.
- Advocate for Policy Change: Individuals are encouraged to stay updated on local, state, and federal policies related to addiction treatment. Joining advocacy groups that work to support individuals and families affected by SUDs and staying informed about legislative changes at all levels are both effective ways to help have your voice heard.
- Promote Education and Awareness: Share information about SUDs and familiarize yourself with community family support resources. Helping to educate loved ones and our community about SUDs, treatment, and harm reduction is one of the best ways to help create systemic change.
- Encourage participation in workforce development initiatives: Consider participating in local training programs and workshops designed to enhance job skills and employability, such as Project Dawn, or becoming a Recovery Friendly Workplace through Summit County Public Health.
While this marks the end of the Summit County Opiate and Addiction Task Force, it’s just the beginning of new opportunities for community engagement. Together, we can continue to make a positive impact in the lives of those affected by addiction.
