Training and Development

The ADM Board provides professional development and training opportunities throughout the year. Currently, these trainings are limited to partner agencies who provide services in Summit County.

Professional Development Scholarships

The ADM Board offers scholarships for professional development opportunities to professionals working within our system of care. These opportunities may include conferences and/or training. Priority preference will be given to those working in non-leadership roles (except in cases where the opportunity is intended for leaders), evidence-based opportunities, and those providing CE credits (if applicable).

Approval of an application is limited to Circle of Hope providers that offer services in Summit County and is based on available funding, appropriateness of training to applicant’s job function, and identified needs in the ADM Board system of care.

To apply for a scholarship through the County of Summit ADM Board, fill out the scholarship application and return it to training@admboard.org.

All scholarship applicants must use the scholarship application document linked here. Any applications using a different version will not be considered.

Evidence-Based Training Funding Requests

The ADM Board is dedicated to supporting the delivery of high-quality behavioral health services grounded in evidence-based practices (EBP) that are proven to improve outcomes for individuals, families, and communities. Through intentional implementation, continuous quality improvement, and fidelity to research-supported models, the ADM Board strives for the integration of best practices into everyday care.

Through the implementation of EBP, clinical engagement is enhanced, and the ADM Board’s vision for a community where exceptional care inspires hope and mental wellbeing is achieved.

Any contract provider agency is eligible for funding to assist in the development, implementation, and enhancement of EBPs within an agency.

All applicants must submit a completed application, located here, and submit it to training@admboard.org to be considered.

Peer Support

“Peer support” refers to a recovery system where individuals with lived experience in mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or both are trained and certified to provide support, understanding, and guidance to one another. The idea is that a peer supporter is able to provide a unique experience that helps to inspire hope and promotes connection between the peer support worker and the individual seeking recovery support.

Ohio’s Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) provides a broader look at the various types of peer support. To learn more about Ohio’s peer support system, visit OhioMHAS’s peer supporters page.

Certified Peer Recovery Supporters

Certified Peer Recovery Supporters (PRS) are in recovery and are willing to share their experiences with those they work with. The peer supporters model helps to establish a plan to identify and manage relapse signs and other issues when an individual is in the early stages of recovery.

PRS are often found in places such as recovery housing agencies, treatment agencies, recovery support agencies, and specialty drug court programs in Summit County.

There are multiple pathways to becoming a certified PRS. More information on the available pathways is available here.

If you are interested in becoming an OhioMHAS PRS, utilizing the 40-hour in-person training pathway, you will need to complete the 11 eBased Academy courses. Once these are completed, you must submit proof of eBased Academy course completion and training application to the ADM Board to register for an upcoming training.

The OhioMHAS training application can be mailed or delivered in person to the County of Summit ADM Board 1867 W Market St, Suite B2, Akron, OH 44313. It can also be scanned and emailed to Brooke Ballard at brookeb@admboard.org.

For questions or support regarding the certification process, including eBased Academy technical support, visit the OhioMHAS website.
